Windows Seven - OpenGL

Get support for Pointools Model

Windows Seven - OpenGL

Postby Fredygulzy on Sun Nov 22, 2009 1:14 pm

I just try to use Pointools model inside Autocad 2008 under Windows Seven 64Bits. (I had no choice, as I would have preferred XP 64bits)

There are some issues :
The graphic Car NVidia GTX 295 is not in the supported list for Autocad 2008. Then, the OpenGL mode is not available. And Pointools Model will not be able to display a loaded cloud.
I hope Autodesk will release a new driver for this card under windows seven 64 bits, or as I read in another Post that Pointools would support DirectX.
In the between time, and because it worked with the same card under XP 64 Bits, I run Acad.exe in compatibility mode for XP SP3, and then I am able to select OpenGL mode through the 3dconfig command.

Then the cloud is displayed, but there is a problem with the Autocad cursor : it leaves a trace of himself on the screen.
I am using Pointools Model only for demos, so I can deal with this issue.
But if users plan to use Windows Seven, just check out if your OpenGL graphic card is in Autodesk compatibility list.

Thanks for your comments Fred

We are planning to start work on the DirectX implementation of our engine at the start of next year and expect to be able to update the AutoCAD plugin by Feb / March 2010.
